Talks for Companies and individuals
The COVID-19 pandemic has taken the world by storm and turned our lives upside down. Information and misinformation about the pandemic abound, but concise, reliable explanations and analyses are hard to come by.
I offer to fill the gap with a selection of data-driven online talks on the pandemic, its effects, our response, and the coming vaccines. For more information, e-mail me or use the online form.
About me
My name is Ronen Altman Kaydar, I have a B.Sc. in Mathematics and Physics and an M. A. in Philosophy and History of Science (focusing on the history of biological research in Israel and Germany), as well as complementary studies in sociology and social psychology. In the past, I’ve developed algorithms and models for the Israeli Armament Development Authority and today I work as a freelance writer, editor, and tour guide based in Berlin. Since March I’ve developed an expertise on the COVID-19 pandemic, procuring mounds of information and knowledge from scientific and other sources, running the Facebook page Germany-Israel Corona Updates (in Hebrew), and cooperating in the COVID-19 dashboard Pandemonitor.org. My background in data analysis, algorithmic evaluation, biology, and sociology puts me in a unique position to provide a balanced overview of the pandemic and the world’s response to it. Talks are aimed at companies and organizations wishing to keep employees and members informed on the pandemic, but can also be booked privately. All talks take place online, via Zoom, MS Teams, or Google Meet.
The Talks
Stopping the Spread
How does the novel Coronavirus spread? Why do we wear masks and fear indoor spaces? How might the weather affect the spread? And how has our knowledge evolved and influenced policy over time? In this talk, I summarize the current scientific knowledge about the spread of SARS-Cov-2 and the conclusions we can draw from it in our attempts to curb the pandemic spread.

Enter the Vaccine
One of the most discussed topics about the pandemic, and possibly our best chance to control and defeat it, is developing and distributing an effective vaccine. In this talk I provide up-to-date analysis of the vaccine development process, comparing the approved and nearly-approved vaccines and answering complex questions regarding safety, efficacy, distribution, timing, and possible outcomes.

Models of Response
Since March, governments everywhere have been searching for ways to control the pandemic without collapsing their economies. In this talk, I discuss the four different models that were used (Hammer and Dance, Zero-infection, The East Asian model, and the Swedish model), as well as the much-debated Herd Immunity Model. What are the pros and cons of each model? And what do we still not know?
